I had a BLAST the first week!!!! I loved the Gallery Hop because I thought it was a great way for teens to experience their local Artists. I also loved the baseball game yesterday because I got a free ball from a player, who signed it (and then I gave it to Trin). I also loved the FUSION Service Projects because I love doing community service whenever I can, and I enjoyed painting the lockers st the STEAM Academy like book spines. I’m looking forward to another great week!!!!
I enjoyed the classes today at GUK. I think my favorite was Creativity and the Art of Acting because I thought that Tim was a goofball, and a very ingenious instructor. I also might attend Trivia Night tonight, and I am very excited for the Gallery Hop tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!
Classes today were AWESOME!!!!! I loved Performing World Music with Justin because I am a Percussionist in my high school band, and we started with the djembes. I loved everything about today, and I can’t wait to go to classes tomorrow!!!!! #gearupatuk
The Summer Academy is a blast so far! I’m glad that I was fortunate enough to experience this firsthand instead of hearing stories from friends and family who previously attended. I think my favorite part is the people. I am very much an extrovert, and I love to socialize, so this many people, and many new faces, is probably the best way that I can spend my summer. Plus, I have never actually lived on a college campus, not even for one night. Thus, this opportunity is a great way for me to experience what life on a college campus and in a college environment. I am grateful to be here!
Hi! My name is Ben Cope. I am currently going into my sophomore year at Bellevue High School (across the river from Cincinnati), which shocks everybody I’ve ever met. I enjoy every subject I take in school, mostly because I love the teachers and their goofy personalities. I can listen to all genres and sub-genres of music, with my preferred genres being Pop-Punk, Indie-Pop/Rock, and Alternative, and my favorite bands being blink-182, twenty one pilots, and Panic! At The Disco. I play multiple instruments, mostly stringed, including guitar, bass, ukulele, and mandolin. I play in the Percussion in my high school band, with my main instrument being Keyboards (i.e. Xylophone, Marimba, etc.) in concert band, and I march in the Battery (Drumline(like the Nick Cannon movie without the improv rap)). I love to play video games with my friends, mostly games on Steam like Team Fortress 2 and CS:Go, and am open to new experiences. Unlike most teenagers in my school, I am aware there are different people than me, be it Race, Ethnicity, Sexual Preference, etc., and try my best not to judge them by that alone. I am a VERY talkative person, and will openly listen to anybody who needs or wants to talk.
This is my first year attending the GUK Summer Academy, and it’s even my first time staying, for even one day, on a college campus. I hope to enjoy the events the faculty have planned out for these next three weeks, especially the electives. I hope to take what I learn from the CORE classes, GUK101, and these electives outside of these “walls” (the limits of the main campus) and apply them in my daily life, both in and out of school.
